Job Description

Red Chalk Studios is looking for an exceptional Brand Marketing Communications Designer with agency-level experience as a Graphic Designer managing multiple clients and projects in brand development, print collateral, digital collateral, websites, email marketing and social marketing.

Having exceptional, multi-talented team members positions Red Chalk as a leading brand communications, design and marketing agency. Our successful candidate is dedicated to excellent brand and design thinking, is skilled in problem-solving, designing and managing a wide variety of marketing campaigns and projects.

You’ve worked, preferably, with both B2B and B2C clients. You also have a relentless drive to improve and innovate. You must be an effective communicator who can lead projects from start to finish, collaborate with internal and external teams, as well as manage direct client relationships, multiple jobs and tight deadlines.

This is a full-time position requiring you to work on-site at Red Chalk Studios in Virginia Beach, VA. No freelance or 100% remote working will be considered.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum four years of professional experience as graphic designer/art director managing brand and marketing communications in print and digital across multiple platforms for multiple clients
• Four-year graphic design / communications design degree, or equivalent
• Experience working with B2B and B2C clients
• Letters of reference from past employer(s) and client(s)

STRATEGIC BRAND THINKING & WORKING REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to assess and develop brand foundation principles that guide all brand communications
• Ability to assess marketing initiative and provide strategic solutions
• Ability to develop multiple creative ideas to solve challenges
• Ability to understand complex/comprehensive subjects and execute clear communication messaging
• Present solutions to creative director, clearly communicating objectives and solution rationale
• Ability to work as part of team and support each other’s growth and success
• Self-motivated and driven to provide the best for our clients at all times

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent knowledge and experience with graphic design foundations: typography, color theory, design aesthetics, layouts, etc.
• Advanced knowledge and ability to work with multiple platforms and marketing communications channels
• Ability to create custom illustrations, photo illustrations and execute a high-skill level of photo-editing
• Proficient and professional writing skills

Excellent proficiency, knowledge and experience with the following programs:

• InDesign (creating & editing single- to multi-page documents)
• Illustrator (creating & editing vector artwork and typography)
• Photoshop (editing, photo-manipulation, color-correction, image-building, etc.)
• Acrobat Pro (PDF forms and file management)
• WordPress and/or other website CMS platforms
• Email Marketing Platform: Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Klaviyo or other

Excellent proficiency, knowledge and experience with AT LEAST THREE of the following: 

• Custom journey marketing: establishing communication flows/funnels, establishing automated programs
• Email marketing: campaign strategy, content development, platform management, customer list management
• Print publications/collateral design: concepting, multi-page layouts, image management, file and print management
• Social media marketing: multi-platform strategies, content development, channel management
• Website management: content management, eCommerce management, SEO management
• Video: strategy, storyboarding, production/editing
• 2D Animation design: concepting, image development, efficient animation processes

BONUS proficiencies in:

• Conversion and lead tracking strategies, implementation and management
• Website design, UI/UX strategies, conversion strategies, front-end development
• Illustration
• Photography
• Videography/shooting
• 3D Animations
• Software: After Effects, Premier Pro

Client and Project Management Responsibilities

This position requires you to manage projects that are time-sensitive and multi-faceted. You will need to be efficient in juggling a large project workload. While you will work primarily on-site at Red Chalk Studios, you may be required to visit client locations.

• Work directly with clients, coordinating and managing projects in a timely and professional manner
• Pitch ideas to internal team and clients
• Communicate with team and clients proficiently and efficiently, on a daily basis
• Proof all work for accuracy and have excellent attention to detail
• Review all materials to confirm conformity to standards and specifications
• Attend occassional on-site client meetings, including those out of the area
• Efficiently work with our project management platform, tracking tasks and time management

• Salaried position, ranging $50,000-65,000 — compensation dependent on skills and experience
