Department Overview The Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics has an immediate opening for a full-time (1.0 FTE) clinical genetic counselor specializing in cancer genetics. The selected candidate will primarily be involved in adult cancer genetic counseling services at our NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The counselor may also participate in additional specialty clinics, including pediatric oncology genetics and general pediatric genetics. Genetics consults are conducted both in-person and via telehealth. The counselor will be responsible for overall coordination of patient care including intake, assessment, counseling, test coordination, and follow-up. In addition to direct patient care, our clinical genetic counselors serve a primary role in education to medical trainees, genetic counseling students, and other healthcare providers. Participation in research and publication is also encouraged. Application Requirements Cover Letter/Personal Statement CV/Resume Function/Duties of Position Provides pre- and/or post-test genetic counseling to patients and families at-risk of having or known to have an inherited cancer predisposition syndrome Coordinates genetic testing Discusses genetic test result with patient and provider Works with specialists to develop and implement care plan Assists in maintaining databases Reviews referrals received for cancer genetics clinic to determine appropriate scheduling Attends multidisciplinary tumor boards Serves a primary role in education to medical trainees, genetic counseling students and other health care providers Publication is encouraged Required Qualifications At least 3 years of experience as a Genetic Counselor specializing in clinical cancer genetics; ABGC Board Certified or Board Eligible; Oregon state and Washington state genetic counseling licensure or eligible for licensure Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
