Job Purpose: To support composers, the production team, and music editors with technical tasks as pertains to music for film, television, and multimedia.
What You'll Do: TROUBLESHOOTING / TECHNICAL OVERSIGHT A core responsibility of the Intern is to address technical problems regarding the composer's studio setup and support workflow to the Creative Managers. Intern should be learning and understanding the systems with the composer's guidance and knowledge.
Intern should be able to exercise discretion to avoid relying on the composer's involvement to address minor technical quirks.
Some examples of troubleshooting include but are not limited to:
- Corrupted DAW sessions
- Connecting sample libraries to correct file location
- Setting up and testing new gear (eg. analog synths, control surfaces, outboard gear).
- Addressing spreadsheet formula errors
- Flagging errors in files from clients
- Trimming a video without asking
- Knowledge of gear and signal flow
FILE MANAGEMENT / PREPARATION / DELIVERY One of the most important responsibilities of the Intern is to prepare and deliver files on behalf of the composer.
Intern has the fundamental skills required in their primary DAWs and operating systems (Cubase, Logic, ProTools).
While learning how to deliver files properly the Intern also should gain an understanding of signal flow and the most efficient export and session setup strategies.
In the internship, you will -
- Update Project Tracking Sheets/Frame IO quickly
- Prepping 2MX/QT Files and Playouts for Score Producer, Score Supervisor, and Clients
- Printing Deliverables Stems and 2MXs with no errors (i.e. no clicks/pops, consistent audio levels, proper audio intro and full reverb tail at end of track, no clipping, clean edits)
- File naming accuracy across all projects
- Spotting
- Conforming
- Prepping orchestration delivery - midi, .cpr / .logic, XML, tempo map
- Checking music scores and flagging errors (bars, beats, tempo, re-meters)
- Prepping ProTools files for musicians who record remotely (2mx, mix minus, click track, tempo map)
- Prepping ProTools sessions for live recording
- ProTools video playback management and temp dub QuickTime deliveries
- Lead Sheets / Take-downs for solo musicians/singers
- Timely email communications / followup with Composer and Creative Managers
- Familiarity with Vienna / metaframes
- Knowledge of gear and signal flow
Who You Are: - Currently enrolled in a college or university for music production and/or music technology
- Have a desire to build a career in the industry as a technical score assistant, music editor, or engineer
- Able to adapt quickly to a changing environment with minimal disruption
- An excellent communicator and enthusiastic collaborator who works well with team members, external partners, and management
- You are hungry to learn and grow. You are curious, ask questions and get excited about new projects.
- A highly organized person that pays close attention to the details.
- Proven music technology experience in ProTools, Cubase, and/or Logic.
- Sound, professional presence over the phone and during times of stress.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to contribute a minimum of 15 hours a week and up to 29 hours total, ability to work evenings if needed.

This does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
